Growing Habaneros

Wed Dec 28, 2016 3:28 am

Just starting them today...

I also bought a nice big(huge) seed starting cell. It contains 72 cells about and inch and a half wide!

Nice! Did you start 72 seeds? I started around 45 seeds this year and i already know that it's to much but it's almost impossible not to start to many plants... :-)

Yes I started all 72 of them. 6 habaneros, 12 lettuce, 18 oregano, and 36 radishes! I will have a great harvest of radishes.  :D

Everything has sprouted EXCEPT my habaneros (of course.) I still have my fingers crossed... I have planted more habanero seeds in hope they grow too.

I am trying to grow peppers this year...
You seem to have much more experience than myself with these reluctant seedlings.. So, how long does it take to see even a little green emerging?
I am trying both hot and sweet and so far I see nothing...
its been since January 2nd, am I rushing?
How much water should I give these seeds?
I was given the seeds and the generous lady has disappeared and unavailable so I am unable to ask her.
Went to my normal seed source, he wants me to purchase heaters and invest in lights. Do I really need all this?
Thanks for he help

My Jalapeno seeds have already sprouted. But NONE of my Habanero seeds have sprouted yet.

It's my second year growing chilli and I don't have special lights and i don't have heaters.. I just use a regular lamp close to the seedlings and they seem to be ok. It might take linjer to sprout, but fine for me. I don't want to buy a lot of special things if i don't really need them.

Think it's been discussed before if the stronger chilli varieties take longer time to sprout. Most of mine have sprouted but not all. Just be patient... jalapeno is always early..
