I'm so happy that I decided to grow Jerusalem Artichokes! 5 small bulbs were really thriving in the garden (luckily they were framed..) and quickly grew into large plants with beautiful yellow flowers. The 5 bulbs also gave a rich harvest. For each planted bulb we could harvest 15 new ones (each significantly larger than the bulbs we planted in the beginning of the season). Amazing! We planted the bulbs in half soil and half compost, which seemed to be a winning concept.
Example of harvest given by one single originally planted bulb:
It's now end of december and we have harvested 3 of 5 plants. For each plant we harvest, we replant one bulb. We hope this will be the foundation of repeated success next season.
hangout for all other veggies. What do you grow and how do you grow them?
