I am going to give some to family and friends. I have a bestie that wants to start a garden. I will have to sell some, my grandma has a backyard I will pay her to keep them. Anywhere I can.:)

The one to the left is from the slice. Other from seed.

What a lovely Tomato mess! :-) You can plant them deeper when you repot them. They will grow new Roots from the Stem and be stronger plants if they are planted deeper. You can bury the Stem all the way up to the first set of Leaves.

Question==

Many tomatoes are a hybrid, so if you are growing from the tomato slice, will that be a problem with the new tomato plant since it is not being grown from the hybrid seed?

I just can help myself.. I have a tomato addiction! I am regrowing HUGE tomatoes that I saw in a neighbors yard. I asked if I could have a mushy one and she said yes! So I cut the tomato and it cane out to be a lovely smelling yummy gooey mess. Here are the pictures of where I planted them. Also some updated pictures of the baby seedlings.

Hybrids are a mix of two different "Parent Plants". The reason why hybrids are created is because you can get specific charachteristics that you want in your "Baby Plant". This is however only valid for the first Generation. When you plant Seeds (or Slices) taken from a Hybrid Tomato, you never know what you're going to get next. The usual problem is that the Second Generation Hybrids are sterile (not giving fruits).

I'd avoid to plant a hybrid Slice - to be on the safe side.

Good Luck!

Im so excited to hopefully see tomatoes coming next or this year! They have come a long way from being spindly and thin to looking like true tomato plants! Does anyone know any ways to grow them upsidown or just closer together to maximize space?
