Habanero Competition

Tue Jan 03, 2017 6:11 pm

Hello everyone! This is the topic where I would like everyone to participate in! (Including myself) The challenge is to see who can grow a habanero plant the fastest, and also have it fruit. Who ever grows a Red Habanero bush and has habanero fruits will win.

Rules:
No cheating such as indoor propagators, germinators, or even grow or heat lamps.
This competition is purely as if the seed was in the wild. So that means that it is started outside and grown outside with no help.
No fighting (I dont think there will be any but just in case)
No store bought seedlings
No pictures of someone elses plant. Saying its yours

Anyone who doesnt obey these rules will be disqualified out of the contest.

I hope everyone has fun!

Requirements:
The great outdoors
Red Habanero seeds
Soil
Raised garden bed or pot

Thats it! Counting today you have three days to get the seeds. The contest will start then.

Thanks!

Fun idea! I don't think I can start it outdoors until propably may or june when the frost risk is over.. is it too late to participate by then? I don't think a plant started that late will have time to fruit before winter comes.. this is a bad climate for chillis! Image But I will try and compete but probably not win!

Ok then I will change the rules to help everyone in Europe. Anyone can grow indoors if climate doesnt permit growing. I want anyone to participate so I can adjust it to fit your country.

I finally got my Red Habanero Seeds today. I started them immediately! I know that I'm a bit late when it comes to start my Seeds for the Competition, but I still have good hope. :-)

Made one of my homemade PET Bottle Seed Starters to give the Competition Seeds the best possible start. Watch out. ;-)

No not yet... I dont plan on winning, I am going to top them quite a bit. I want my plant like a bush. I read that if you top multiple times it will be bushy, I also looked it up on YouTube. Everyone I watched worked.

Look at these tall and leggy struggling Habanero sprouts! At least they are alive, but LittleChili - your plants look way stronger! What's your secret?

Not that secret.. but plenty of light.. I find that Chilli Plants get tall and thin if they don't get enough light, and especially if they are kept in a warm place. Since I have mine in room temperature I make sure to add extra light about 16 hours a day. I plan to transplant my Red Habanero within a few days.. :)
