Old Man of the Andes

These are my grandfather’s and I’m not sure how best to care for them. I know the main stem is at least 20 years old. They don’t start to flower till around 15 years from what I understand. My main question is do I simply repot it or to keep it healthy should I try to split them apart? I’ve never seen the roots of a columnar cactus so not sure if I could break them up or if the stems should be cut and rooted. If they’re cut and rooted does that start my 15 year flowering clock over?

Thanks for alleviating my ignorance in advance!
