Pot mix needed?

Wed Mar 14, 2018 10:51 am

So hello everyone it's me new here
I haven't ever been in this garden stuff and all ever before so I just wanted to ask whether I could grow plants directly using my garden soil or do I require pot mix particularly and also can you tell me how does it actually work and what all does it contain?

Your help would be appreciated!

Hi and welcome!

I generally try to use as much as possible from what I have before I go buying stuff. I only use store bought sowing mix for seeds like chilli and eggplant (which might find regular soil to strong and nutrient when they are sprouting). If you think that your garden soil might contain stuff like mould - just run it for a few minutes in the microwave and let it cool of before using it for sowing.

Keep us posted on how it goes!

But tell me one thing - how many times can we reuse the sowing mix? Doesn't the nutrients in it start decreasing after we use several times

I only use it once. It then goes outdoors, into the compost.
